Alison is a classically trained Mezzo-Soprano who specialises in opera and sacred music, bringing a fresh perspective to well known and loved classical repertoire. Based in the Midlands Alison is a member of OperaMint and is mentored by opera singer and teacher Sara Clethero (Welsh National Opera/ Director of OperaMint).
Alison began her vocal training in Hong Kong under the direction of Dr Derek Anthony, singing with the Opera Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the St John’s Cathedral Choir. Productions include Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’ and Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’. Solo work continued in the UK performing in Church Services, military and private events.
In recent years Alison sang as part of a classical vocal duo with soprano Jill Saunders, performing in numerous recitals, concerts, military and charity events. Highlights included being guest artists in the Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir Autumn concert, 2012, which featured the well-known Welsh baritone and TV personality, Aled Jones. Alison has also performed before HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO during a QARANC Corps Day Service and recently at Lichfield Cathedral at a celebration of Whittington Barracks receiving the Freedom of the City.
Alison continues to sing regularly in OperaMint concerts and was recently performing in Kaltern, Italy, with the company. She is currently studying the role of Dorabella in Mozart’s opera Cosi fan tutte to be performed as part of a summer school programme in The Musicale, Kaltern, July 2017. Alison will also be performing a recital with Jill Saunders, and in other concerts as part of this event.
Alison is passionate about bringing classical music to the mainstream so that it is accessible to all. She sings with a voice of true authenticity, character and emotion and always aims to leave her audiences wanting more.
